Formulation Services · Market-Ready Formulation

Market-ready formulation, for every market you sell in.

Nutritional gap analysis, international reformulation and label-modernisation readiness for India, the US, the EU, the UK and Australia.

Guires Pet Nutrition Lab

Market-Ready Pet Food Formulation from Guires PNL

A formula that is complete and balanced in one market may not be in another. Nutrient references, legal additive limits and labelling rules differ between AAFCO, FEDIAF, IS 11968 and AS 5812, and the US is moving to a new Pet Nutrition Facts box.

We check your recipe against the target market’s nutrient profile and legal limits, reformulate where needed and prepare label data for each market. Final responsibility for product compliance rests with the brand owner placing the product on the market.

Minimums and maximums

Excess matters as much as deficiency. In 2018–19, formulation errors led to US dog food recalls with vitamin D at up to about 70 times the intended level.
What we do

Every formula is checked against FEDIAF nutritional maximums and EU/UK legal additive limits (e.g. vitamin D 2,000 IU/kg, zinc 200 mg/kg), and premix inclusion is double-checked.

Life stage and size

AAFCO caps calcium at 1.8% of dry matter for foods fed to puppies expected to exceed 70 lb, as excess calcium disturbs skeletal development in giant breeds.
What we do

Large-breed growth formulas keep calcium, phosphorus and energy within tighter ranges.

In a 2026 study, 82.3% of 96 products met their declared guaranteed analysis — so nearly 1 in 5 did not.

FAQs

Common questions.

Which markets do you cover?

India, the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom and Australia.

Is the product then approved?

No product is “approved” by AAFCO; we prepare formulas and label data to each market’s rules, and the brand owner remains responsible for compliance.

Can one recipe serve several markets?

Often, yes — we design for the strictest requirements where that is practical.

FEDIAFAAFCO

Every Guires PNL product is formulated to comply with the FEDIAF Nutritional Guidelines and the AAFCO Dog and Cat Food Nutrient Profiles. Neither body issues certificates to manufacturers, so compliance is verified independently against their published standards — and every product comes with a complete documentation package for regulatory submissions in the EU, US, Australia and Asian markets.
