Applications

Functional nutrition, built on evidence.

From digestive health to healthy ageing, and from novel proteins to postbiotics — we develop the benefit and prove the ingredient, within the claims your market allows.

Functional Benefits

Nutrition that does a job — and says so honestly.

Functional products are built from the evidence for each ingredient and the level it is used at, then worded as nutrition claims, not disease claims.

Digestive Health

Fibre blends, prebiotics, probiotics, postbiotics and highly digestible proteins.

Measured by digestibility and stool-quality scoring

Immune Support

Antioxidant vitamins, beta-glucans, colostrum and probiotics.

Wording such as “supports natural defences” — not medical claims

Explore Immune Support →

Joint & Mobility

EPA and DHA, glucosamine, chondroitin, green-lipped mussel, collagen and weight control.

Evidence review and active-level design

Explore Joint & Mobility →

Skin & Coat

Omega-6 and omega-3 balance, zinc, biotin and B vitamins, protein quality.

Fatty-acid profile and stability testing

Explore Skin & Coat →

Weight Management

Energy density, protein-to-energy ratio, fibre for satiety and precise feeding guides.

Calorie-content claims follow defined thresholds (e.g. “light”)

Explore Weight Management →

Urinary Health

Controlled minerals, target urine pH and higher moisture intake — especially for cats.

Mineral balance design; disease claims stay with veterinary diets

Explore Urinary Health →

Oral Care

Chew and kibble texture for mechanical cleaning, plus functional ingredients.

Plaque and tartar claims need recognised protocols (e.g. VOHC)

Explore Oral Care →

Calm & Behaviour

Ingredients such as L-tryptophan, L-theanine and milk-protein hydrolysates.

Evidence varies by ingredient — reviewed before inclusion

Explore Calm & Behaviour →

Longevity & Healthy Ageing

Cellular energy (NAD+ precursors), senescent-cell research, cognition support (MCTs, antioxidants, omega-3s) and senior diets.

Early evidence: one controlled dog trial of an NAD+ precursor plus senolytic improved owner-rated cognition. Claims stay at “supports healthy ageing” — never “extends lifespan”.

Growth & Reproduction

Puppy, kitten, gestation and lactation diets, including large-breed puppies.

Growth profiles, with calcium limits for large-breed puppies

  • Premix matched to your nutrient targets
  • Natural and synthetic antioxidant systems
  • Shelf-life verification of the programme
Claims Boundaries

Nutrition claims, not disease claims.

01

Structure and function

Wording such as “supports joint health” or “supports digestive health”, backed by evidence for the ingredient at the level used.

02

Nutritional, not medical

Medical or disease-related claims generally make a product a drug or veterinary product. We keep your wording on the right side of that line.

03

Market by market

The same benefit can need different wording in India, the US, the EU, the UK and Australia. See our regulatory support.

Evidence

The science behind our approach.

Peer-reviewed and regulatory findings that shape how we work — each linked to its source.

Evidence varies by ingredient

A 2022 meta-analysis of 72 trials found clear evidence for omega-3s in canine and feline osteoarthritis, but “a very marked non-effect” for chondroitin–glucosamine.
What we do

Evidence reviews come first, so studies target ingredients and doses that can work.

Omega-3 has the strongest evidence

A systematic review rated omega-3-enriched diets as having the highest strength of evidence in dogs; results for green-lipped mussel were positive but inconsistent.
What we do

We rank actives by evidence strength and tell you where it is weaker.

Probiotic evidence is limited

A systematic review of 17 dog studies found only a very limited effect of probiotics in acute gut disease and no added benefit over diet in chronic disease.
What we do

We don’t rely on a probiotic alone for a digestive claim — the whole recipe does the work.
